Before you look for a job in business you should have settled in your own mind the answers to two questions. What is my career path? and What do I want in my next job?
It is assumed that before choosing to enter a masters program or MBA you have decided that business is the field for you. You will also have had the opportunity during your curriculum completion to participate in one or more internship programs. These programs should be of help in narrowing the fields for you to be able to determine a preferred career path.
While determining a preferred career path does not mean successfully following that path with never a misstep, it can help you map a general route to your desired future.
As you review job opportunities which you learn about, keep in mind the overall path you have chosen. Look at each opportunity with a mental question; How will this particular job help me on my chosen career path? While you are unlikely to find a job with everything you like to do and are familiar with right out of school, you should be able to look at opportunities to help correct weaknesses which you may have. This will help you on your career path,
Bear in mind that few people stay in an entry level position for long. Once they have enough background information to move upwards through the organizational layers, they would be well advised to do so.
While different MBA programs stress different course emphasis, there are some basics which cut across all the types of MBA emphasis and these are the characteristics which make the acquisition of an MBA degree so valuable to many people and businesses... (read more)
