Selecting An MBA ProgramPosted: 1/11/2007 by Staff In selecting an MBA program, the wise prospective student will look at several aspects of the program to determine the best possible fit for the future plans. The primary factor in selecting an MBA program is personal interest in the field. The satisfactory completion of an MBA program will have a significant impact on future financial earnings but the best paying job in the world is worthless if you have no interest in performing the duties of the job. If you've had job experience in the field and are comfortable with the duties and responsibilities, which are likely to be yours if you complete the MBA program, you are better able to judge if a particular MBA program is something that would work for you. Although one would need a crystal ball to determine if a particular MBA program is likely to be one where positions will be required when the MBA program is finished in one to two years, still a prudent person will attempt to look at the job market in the area of emphasis and determine where the market is headed during the next 18 months. Another factor in choosing an MBA program, which is right for you, is the location of the school. If it is an online degree, your location and the location of the school do not matter much; the picture is much different with a bricks and mortar university. You will need to determine whether you will move to a new location for the program or whether you will utilize an MBA program at a state university near you. |
